Seema Kumari grew up in Dahu, a small village in Jharkhand, where girls were expected to stay home, not study. But at just 9 years old, she joined the Yuwa Foundation’s football program — unknowingly setting off on a path that would redefine her future.
Football became her gateway to the world. What began on a dusty field in her village led to national tournaments, international training camps, and new horizons. But Seema didn’t stop there — she also pushed herself academically, grabbing every chance to grow. From a high-school exchange program in Seattle to summer courses at Cambridge and Washington University, she kept moving forward.
Harvard wasn’t even in her plans — until one of her teachers, a Harvard alum, encouraged her to apply. Backed by her mentors and fueled by belief, Seema took a bold step — and made it! She got accepted into Harvard University on a full scholarship, where she is now pursuing Economics.
From breaking barriers to setting new ones, Seema’s journey is a powerful story of determination, resilience, and the magic of opportunities. She’s not just chasing her dreams — she’s leading the way for thousands of girls like her.
